Mission: Provide technical, research, training and information assistance to businesses, organizations, communities and local governments engaged in economic and community development activities in the 47-county South Texas region.
Our Focus:
Technical Assistance
This assistance consists mainly of activities performed in response
to client needs and requests. Examples include the development of
feasibility studies on proposed projects, community surveys, economic
base studies, needs assessments, strategic planning, and business
targeting studies.

Applied Research
Under this category the Center usually initiates studies and projects
on its own to examine specific economic development issues in the
region. Examples include conducting a policy impact study on an
economic development project, or initiating a concept definition
type study.

Training/Capacity Building
Under this program area the Center provides training on economic
development tools, techniques and strategies, conducts workshops
and seminars on various economic development topics, and provides
specialized training leading to a certificate in economic development.

Information Resources
Under this program area the Center provides information on its activities
through reports and newsletters, conducts conferences and symposiums
on regional issues, and distributes information on economic development
related issues.

Facilitation/Strategic Planning
Under this initiative, the Center aides local
governments, communities, nonprofits, councils of government, economic
development districts, and chambers of commerce in planning for
the future, charting a course of action, and designing qualifications
to judge success.
