Facilitation/Strategic Planning
IH-35 South Economic Development Coalition
During its 2001-2002 Program Year the Center assisted the IH-35 South Economic Development Coalition in putting together a strategic plan to restructure its operations and develop several new initiatives in its corridor region to facilitate economic and community development.
Future of the Region Initiative - South Texas
This is a regionwide initiative supported by the Center to develop an action agenda for South Texas in the areas of workforce development, infrastructure needs, environmental concerns, health care and sustainable development. The Center has been actively engaged in this effort since 1993, and is working with a volunteer based coordinating committee to maintain this process.
Central North American Trade Corridor Project
The Center is working closely with the Central North American Trade Corridor Association (CNATCA) which is centered on U.S. Highway 83 to develop a comprehensive strategy concept paper/needs assessment to transform this Corridor Region into an economic growth/investment zone designed to spur development, rural revitalization, community growth and job opportunities. This Corridor Region spans six states - North Dakota, South Dakota, Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Texas. This is an ongoing project.
City of Yoakum - Strategic Planning Process (DeWitt/La Vaca Counties)
The Center assisted the City of Yoakum in putting together a community-based process that led to the development of a highly successful strategic plan to spur economic and business development. This plan is being implemented and can be considered as a model for other communities interested in developing strategic plans. This is an ongoing Center project.
