Our Mission

We believe that the foundation for rural economic growth is built on applied research, planning, leadership and strategic mobilization of private and public sources of capital.

Our aim is to help communities develop revitalization strategies to increase their competitiveness with the goal of increasing economic opportunity and improving the quality of life in rural communities.

The Rural Business Program (RBP) is one of 10 geographically based field centers and three specialty centers directly affiliated with the South-West Texas Border SBDC Network. The South-West Texas Border SBDC Network is a program of UTSA's Institute for Economic Development.

The RBP was established to provide technical assistance, training, advisory services, research, strategic planning, business and resource development to small- to medium-sized businesses, economic development corporations, communities and local governments.

The RBP offers clients targeted and customized services designed to meet their needs, drawing from a full spectrum of resources and capabilities from the Institute of Economic Development.
